Hello Friend; Anyone can and should enjoy this spectacular recording that has equally and additionally marvelous material than the LP of 45 years ago. The sound is is wonderful, alive and crisp. The band roars and the playing is outstanding. As for Buddy Rich and his Krypton like origin, it helps to be a drummer to try to fathom his technique skill, taste and musicality, never duplicated by anyone. His playing elicits moans from other players trying to understand what they heard AND CANNOT He did not read music, what would have been the need? who could write the things he played? even if written who could perform the long solos the fill ins, the lead ins the, nuances, the power, the precise time and the perfection of it all including his brush playing .My first knowledge of Buddy Rich was in 1939 as a 10 year old. I am still amazed baffled, 75 years later by this perfectionist who never duplicated a solo and originated everything he played and had a savant like photographic memory of the hundred of band arrangements stored in his mind for instant recall.I was listening to this CD in my car waiting for a gas refill when Buddy Rich had his 12 daughter sing a tune"The Beat Goes On", during a live performance. Midway through the arrangement I found myself smiling, thinking of her singing in front of THAT band, she was great and whAt a talent, what bravery, what a precious moment in life.also listen to that Steam Locomotive of a band after her vocal, it is beyond description. You can listen to this CD a hundred times and hear something new every time. buy the DVD visual "Buddy at the Hague in Holland in 1978" to view what a talent, musician, entertainer, comediene, actor, and sublime performer that the man was. He is a man of our time......................... "A ONE OF A KIND"i HAVE ORDERED BUT HAVEN'T SEEN THE MONTREAL DVD. AS YET. i DID HEAR IT ON A CD AND WAS MESMERIZED BY THE PERFORMANCES AND BUDDY RICH'S PLAYING .I have listened to most of the drummers throughout the years and they are wonderful, skillful and hardworking at what they do and I wish for them recognition and a lot of work and I know they will all agree with me..................."the likes of him will never be seen again"Thank you Mr. Rich.for a lifetime of enjoyment and thrillsJerry Gerard
