Description
Say hello to a new tradition in high chairs. High chair trays are hard to use. The Nook uses a swing-open tray to simplify mealtime. This fantastic high chair features a large swing-open tray that operates with one-hand. Without having to use 2 hands or line up cumbersome rails, mom or dad can easily hold their child while operating the tray. There is no need to remove dishes from the tray before taking the child out of the chair. Simply swing the tray open, unbuckle your child and off you go to the next task. This feature helps keep you kitchen counter clear. Folding and storing the high chair in the pantry or kitchen nook will make your kitchen feel more spacious. High chairs have gotten bulkier and less kitchen friendly. With the Nook's ability to fold like a beach chair, it opens up new opportunities for use at picnics, camping, friend's homes, and at grandparents. Bringing the baby to meals anywhere has never been easier. We know how important it is to parents to have tray adjustability. Keeping food on the tray and off the child's lap is essential. The new Nook has a tray with 4 depth adjustments to accommodate your child as they grow. Many high chairs lack a big enough seat. The Nook is a roomy, full-size high chair with an exceptional padded leatherette seat that accommodates a child up to 50 lbs. The leatherette material makes it is easy to wipe down. The Nook comes fully assembled and is ready to go, out of the box.

I had to take 1 star off because this high chair isn't perfect (which I'll explain below), but overall it is a good choice that you won't be disappointed with if you buy it.The Good:We bought the coral color one and it's quite attractive looking and functional. It was a little bit too big for our 5 month old, but the straps held in her safely and she's rapidly growing into it. It has enough leg room and adjustable tray so I don't predict it becoming too tight at any point during the period we'll be using it which was a concern after reading reviews of some other high chairs.I love how the safety bar between the legs which prevents the baby from ever slipping out of the seat is integrated into the seat itself instead of being part of the tray or hanging down from above. This lets you put even the squirmiest baby into the seat easily and feel safe as you buckle her up with no chance of her slipping out. You can also remove the tray even if she's not strapped in and she'll still be reasonably safe and secure unlike other chairs where the crotch bar hangs down from the tray (obviously you should never leave a baby not strapped in though.) I don't understand why all high chairs don't have this simple, but very safe design. The tray is quite large and again has a wonderful design where it swings out of the way and when you swing it back it clicks securely into place. It's crazy to expect a busy parent with a crowded house to always be able to remove the tray and sit it somewhere while putting the baby in taking the baby out which is a problem I saw with some other high chairs. The swinging tray was the feature that drew me to the Joovy. The tray is also fully removable as well as has 3 positions that it clicks firmly into depending how close or far you need it from the baby. Like you can see in the description the tray has a removable cover which is nice because when there is a mess you can just un-click the cover to remove it and have another clean surface underneath right away! The legs and base of the chair are very wide with rubber feet which makes it difficult to slide across the floor and all but impossible to tip over. It has a bit of a wide footprint, but that is a very good safety aspect of it. The back is high and wide too which supports baby's head and blocks her from trying to turn around and getting too distracted by what is behind the chair. The chair folds in a single motion with the tray in place and is reasonably compact.Areas for improvement:The Joovy high chair is good overall but has a few points that could use some engineering improvement...I really wanted a high chair that reclined because we're just starting solids and still feed our baby milk from a bottle. This chair is a little too upright to give her a bottle comfortably while she is in it. We decided this wasn't a deal breaker because she'll grow beyond this problem before too long. But still, if Joovy reads this - add the ability to recline please! The release to fold the chair is a little lever in the top-middle of the back of the chair. The lever actually pulls on cables similar to bicycle brake cables which releases the lock mechanism in the joint where the legs meet the seat and allow it to fold forward. You're supposed to simply pull the lever and fold it forward, unfortunately the cable release mechanism doesn't work so well. I often have to pull on the lever several times or hold it while I try to fold the chair with the other hand. It doesn't release consistently and there's no real tactile feedback to know when you've pulled the lever firmly enough. I also see this as a potential point of failure if you fold it to store it away after every use.The swing out tray is the feature that sold me, but the joint and point where connects is plastic and flexes a lot. When I swing open the tray it sags and things on it could potentially roll or slide a bit. I don't feel comfortable leaving anything but the lightest objects on it when I have it in the swung open position. It it however very firm and secure when its locked into place so it isn't too big of a deal.I mentioned the wide legs and feet making it all but impossible to tip over. One caveat to that however is that when you are standing close or buzzing around doing things its easy to step inside the perimeter of the legs and potentially trip or kick the leg of the chair if you aren't paying attention. We haven't done this but worry about a less agile relative potentially doing it.Overall we find that this suits us better than the other models and despite my list of areas for improvement, the workmanship is pretty good and we're happy with it. Our baby, who is the ultimate judge, is generally pretty happy in it.I had such high hopes for this high chair.1. The chair is very easy to fold down but not to put up. You definitely can’t do it one handed. It’s not smooth & you never know where to pull from to get the best advantage. With a crawling baby on the loose it’s a headache trying to get it to cooperate.2. It has a nice little tray you can take off & wash separately. But it doesn’t fit over the lip of the actual tray & so good gets under it & you’re wiping off both trays quickly so the baby doesn’t make more of a mess. Not well designed. They could have easily made the removable tray to cover the entire tray.3. Can you remove the fabric to clean the seat? I haven’t figured out how. The seat is so hard to clean the seams & straps. I’m doing BLW & it’s messy! I feel like I’m going to have mold on my hands if I don’t make a huge effort to scrub the seat each meal. Time waster & again, crawling baby on the loose.4. I wish it had wheels! Maybe asking too much for a compact chair, but it would have been great for the crazy price!Pros: I do love that it’s compact for my small apartment. It’s a sleek design & quite attractive. The baby fits well in it & doesn’t have a problem slumping.LOVE this high chair! Love that it can fold, and tuck it away. You can also buy different covers for it if you want the other colors! Could never use a different high chair again.Love this highchair so much. The only thing about mine is, when folding from behind, the left gets stuck and I have to push pretty hard to fold it. It’s easy to clean and store.I got this high chair for my grandson when he comes over, easy fold for storage and takes up very little space.Very pleased with the over all construction, how easy it is to use and love that it all folds up to tuck away. The only negative I would say is it doesn't have wheel built in. I would have given it a 5 star if it had wheels. If you don't care about that option than you are going to love the easy use of this chair. As I have twins, ready bought other product with wooden legs, no folding function with it. The most bothering thing about the other product was the tray; darn hard to take it up and down, potential for injury as well. This chair, however is amazing! Why did not I buy this chair already? Easy assemble and beautiful product design. Thumbs up to the product designer!I don't think this is hard to clean like I've see alot in the reviews. It folds up easy. We really like this oneSo pleased I read other reviews and decided to purchase this great high chair! It’s for our granddaughter so I needed something that I could fold away and put in a cupboard when it’s not needed - this is perfect! Folds really easily (one click of a button) and it folds with the tray in situ! It has a carrying handle and is very light so easy to move and put in a cupboard. The tray itself pivots away from one side meaning I can put our little granddaughter in front ways without having to lift her over the top of the tray (much easier now she is getting bigger). The harness is easy to adjust and clip together. The tray comes with a clip on cover which you can remove for easy cleaning and is also dishwasher safe. The seat is very well padded, so comfortable for little ones and it is wipeable for all those learning to eat accidents! All in all a great piece of kit, well worth the money, I couldn’t be happier - oh and our granddaughter loves sitting up at the table with us at mealtimes!Absolutely love rid high chairWe bought this to replace our fisher price total clean highchair (if youre comparison shopping do not buy that fisher price one!)My only complaints about it would be: - We went from our kid not having enough space before to have too much space even on the lowest tray setting with this Joovy. Food gets dropped down everywhere.- The seat both to be raised up and down or tilting the backrest back are in a fixed position. It would be nice to have the option.- I find the straps hard to adjust- I dont like that the part of the fabric right at the edge is a thick cotton stitching. Its impossible to clean. The rest of the chair is very easy to wipe down.Overall its better than our old one, so in that regard Im happy with the purchase.I love this highchair! We have a small house and I knew I couldn’t stand a huge bulky chair that would be in the way. We have no storage. So this chair is amazing! I put it behind the door in babys room and it fits perfect.I can unfold it with one hand while holding baby and its not too heavy. The best part is how the tray swings open and closed. It makes it so easy to put baby in one handed!!Not sure why reviews I read before said it was hard to clean.. and one mentioned trying to clean out the holes on the side of the tray. Silly since you can just take the whole tray off and clean it.. you press the tabs in on both sides and pull the whole tray off. The holes are in the piece you remove they are used to adjust depth of the tray. I have not had to do that yet. I just take off the clear plastic tray cover and wash that.It is portable and can be easily tucked away. The safety belts on the seat makes it feel secure. Love the leather feel of the seat too. The table also swivels outwards, which is convenient for taking your baby out of the seat. Only downside is that the height of the chair is not adjustable but not a major issue.
