Very easy to set up, and took probably 20 minutes. Fairly easy to get secure in the door frame. I am using it in a frame that does have a door and it fits along the edge of the frame still allowing the door to be opened and closed. The only issue there is the doorknob is at a height with the gate where it is a little bit of a task to open it but that is rarely a situation I need to handle. The gate stays in place for the most part though I have had to push it back upright slightly a couple of times. Fairly easy to open one-handed, though I am used to the pedal type, this cannot be opened by very smart dogs or toddlers. The packaging was smart and made setup easier with instructions and arrows to help with the best set up. No special tools are needed to tighten the screws.
